Pumpkin Patch Picking

Yesterday--a crisp, blustery, autumn Saturday--we went hunting in the pumpkin patch with Aunties Christel and Wendy.
We had to take a hayride (Simone's first ever) to get to the patch. So, we loaded up and off we went... the ride was a little windy.... hold on Simone!

Simone had lots of fun running around the field. And it made for some great photos.

We picked our favorites, loaded them up on the wagon, and brought them home.
A PERFECT OCTOBER DAY!!!

White House Weekend

Well, daddy, last weekend we took some time away from housework and errands and enjoyed some of the best the DC has to offer. Grammy and Pop and Aunt Sheree and Uncle Robert came to visit, and we did a TON of sightseeing--Presidential style.

We started the weekend with a tour of the Pentagon, but cameras weren't allowed, so no photos to prove it. We saw the new 9-11 Memorial there, which was really nice. We'll have to go again when you're home.

After that we went for lunch at Old Ebbitt Grill. Simone had chicken, as usual, and sat in a big girl high chair.

Then we hit the streets to see the town. We decided a tourbus was the most efficient mode since we only had a few hours. So off we went... by the Capitol, the Washington Monument, the FDR Memorial, WWII, Lincoln, Jefferson, Korea, Vietnam... the works. Simone napped through the first part. And then travelled first class on Pop's shoulders.

The weather was absolutely stunning the whole weekend.

Once evening set in, we headed west and went to McLean, to Kazan's for a Turkish dinner.

On Saturday, we stayed in Virginia, rented a minivan and went to a bunch of vineyards. I bought some GREAT white wine you can taste when you get home. Only a few shots from the vineyards, I was a little tired of taking pictures from the day before.

Sunday was the big day. We started the morning with Mass, during which Simone was especially well behaved (made a complete liar out of me). The we headed downtown to Cosi to wait for a White House tour.

We started the tour at the Old Executive Office Building, and took this picture as we entered, just for you...

Simone was a little less than enthused, but she behaved the whole time.

After the OEOB, we headed to the West Wing.

First the Press Room...

Then the Rose Garden ...

We ended the tour in the Oval Office, in which, of course, no photos were allowed. But, all in all, a great weekend.

And, best of all, Simone decided she's going to be President when she grows up. Here she is checking out her future home...

THE END...
