Our First Family Road Trip

For Valentine's/Presidents Weekend we decided to try to take Simone with us to NYC. The roughly 3 1/2 hour drive is about her limit, and once again proved a bit of a challenge. However, she is getting better with each passing trip, and we hope within a few months her tolerance of the carseat will let us do road trips more often.
On balance, it was a great weekend, but Simone certainly gave a whole new meaning to the city that never sleeps. Between not feeling so well(turned out she had a sinus infection) and being out of her routine, we were up nearly every half our by the second night of our stay!
So here's the weekend...

The hotel at which we stayed...
Views from our room....

The lobby...

Met some friends for dinner on Valentine's evening...
Simone's Valentine's sweater (how cute!)

Then a visit to FAO Schwarz, of course, the best way to pass the day with a nearly-18 mos old.

Why look AT the balls, when...

you can play IN the balls?

Simone and daddy on the famous piano...what fun!!

Mommy, Simone, and leggo Harry Potter...

And of course, we can't forget the babies...

A short walk through Central Park...

Daddy went down the big slide with Simone the first time, but the second time she slid down all on her own. FEARLESS!

We went to dinner in Brooklyn on our last night and ate at a great Italian place right near the bridge. Our view from the table was awesome, it's not every day you get to eat next to Lady Liberty!

We're Back...By Popular Demand...

Ok, ok.... January was a tough month. Simone was sick, I got really sick, and then Tony camed home. YAY!

So, I admit, the blog suffered. And I thought I'd just let it quietly die off. BUT, then the hate mail and threatening messages started (you know who you are). And voila, we're back. Well, here's a peek at what we've been up to...

First there was the inauguration. We weren't able to go down to the Mall because A.) strollers and diaper bags were prohibited and B.) it was ice freezing cold. So, we put on our red, white, and blue, and went to a friend's for an Inauguration party...

Next, some random January bath time shots...

ENTER DADDY. Tony came home to us on January 22. We got a random phone call at about 8:30 pm, announcing he was at BWI airport. So mommy and baby, hopped in the car (yes, in our pajamas) and drove up to get him.

It didn't take long for Tony and Simone to become best friends. Within days, they were eating cheesecake together in the family room. Gotta check out this series... Simone won't take her eyes off the TV or her mouth off the cheesecake (like daddy like daughter). This went on for at least 20 minutes.

But here's the killer... Look at what they were watching! A WWII documentary on the Military Channel!!!!! And I can't get Simone to watch Sesame Street for even 2 full minutes! And the next day, when Simone might have thought life couldn't get much better than daddy--BAM! the triple threat -- not one, not two, but THREE pacifiers!!! hahahaha!!!

And finally, last weekend we had a great visit from Simone's grandpa, Auntie Lea, and cousin Nailah. The weather was beautiful, so we took the opportunity to bring the girls (and ok, let's face it, Tony) to the park. They had a blast. And Simone was simply FEARLESS--running, sliding, swinging, climbing. We anticipate more than a few trips to the ER in her childhood.

And there you have it. You're all caught up!
