Memorial Day

Grammy and Pop brought two of Simone's cousins down to visit us for Memorial Day weekend.  To say they had tons of fun would be a major understatement.  Simone and Kamryne played so long and so hard every day that the two of them could barely keep their eyes open through dinner.  Mommy and daddy took advantage of Simone's playtime to get lots of housework done, so pictures of the weekend are fairly sparse -- but here's a few.

We went over to the mall on Monday afternoon where the girls couldn't resist a ride on the carousel. The entire weekend was sunny, HOT, and humid.  So we got swim time in every day.

And on Sunday evening there was a concert at the clubhouse, so we brought our picnic blanket and some snacks and went to listen to the music.
The night was full of entertainment because after dinner Simone and Kamryne put on a play for the adults.  I'm having trouble uploading the video at the moment, will need to recruit daddy's technical assistance.  Stay tuned....

Meeting Sam

Today we took a ride up to Maryland to meet Simone's newest cousin Samuel George.  He's just 2 1/2 weeks old, and just about the most pleasant little guy I've ever met.  Even though Simone spent most of the time playing with his older brother Jack, she did take some time to say hello and help with his feeding.

Then out to play.  It took a few minutes for Simone to figure out the mechanics, but then look out.  I don't think they left an inch of the lawn or a single tree dry.

We ended the visit with a short trip over to the local ice cream place.  The weather was absolutely gorgeous today so we ate outside and then let the kids play a little more on the benches, which when you're a kid, double as a play set quite nicely.

Mother's Day Party

On Friday afternoon Simone's class hosted a Mother's Day Spa party at their school.  (Yep, it's about as cute-- and terrifying-- as it sounds.)  All the moms arrived to get pampered by their son or daughter -- hair, nails, and makeup.  It was.... ummm... memorable. LOL!

Simone was THRILLED to be able to paint my nails, both finger and toes.  And what better color than crayola green?  Purple on the toes...

That's right - turquoise eye shadow, lots of it.  Simone worked very hard, and was very proud of all her work.  So yes, I left looking, shall we say "interesting", but seeing her huge smile as she finished each step made it all well worth it.  And there's nothing better than hearing, "There mommy, you look beautiful!"
